The new 7000 Series Metro rail car was unveiled today on the web.
The new cars are missing Metro’s uniform brown exterior paint scheme, and the multicolored seating many riders have become accustomed to.
Metro General Manager Richard Sarles introduced the new cars in a video shot in Japan.
The new cars will replace aging rail cars in Metro’s fleet. Some aging rail cars were involved in the June 2009 crash on Metro’s Red Line in Washington that killed nine people.
