More Highway Signs Coming Down

Prince William County officials said road crews will remove a 30-foot sign on Interstate 95 south at mile post 158, just before the exit for the parkway. The work will begin at 9 p.m.

This latest sign removal comes after crews on Saturday night removed another tall sign on the northbound side of I-95 at Prince William Parkway due to cracked anchor bolts.

The sign removals come after a similar tall highway sign came crashing down onto a pickup while it was traveling on I-66 in Fairfax County. Non one was injured, but the fallen sign has prompted an investigation from the state highway authority.

Crews that removed the highway sign on Saturday night left it sitting in the grassy area next to the highway shoulder.
