Dumfries, Va. — A popular ice cream stand opened for the season two weeks early.
Jo Jo’s Original Soft Serve in Dumfries opened for business Saturday. The shop on U.S. 1 was slated to open March 10.
“We took a poll on Facebook and a lot of our customers said they wanted us to open early,” a store employee said.
That poll was actually a push made by the owner of the store to get more fans to “like” their Facebook page. If the page received more than 6,000 fans, the shop would open in February.
The store Saturday also used their reach on Facebook to offer a special deal: the first 10 customers who purchased $10 or more received a $5 gift certificate.
