Update Tuesday noon:

Monday’s wet snow halted plans to move a pedestrian bridge into place near Butler Road in Stafford County. Officials said they are waiting for the ground to freeze once more before they can install the bridge.

The bridge is part of the Belmont – Ferry Farm Trail in south Stafford County and Fredericksburg.

Original post Monday 12:45 p.m.

Trail work could close Butler Road tomorrow. A contractor will move the 50’ bridge for placement at the Belmont-Ferry Farm Trail on Tuesday, January 10th , between 10am-11am. This will require the contractor to load the bridge back on a trailer and then haul it to the construction entrance on Butler Road (between the park entrance and the YMCA).

We anticipate that traffic will need to be stopped in both directions on Butler Road for a short period of time (15 minutes at the most) to allow the equipment out of the park and then into the construction area.
