Stafford, Va. –– The assault trail of an autistic man will continue in Stafford County today.
Reginald “Nelli” Latson was 19-year-old last May when sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate a suspicious person near North Stafford High School.
After they arrived, sheriff’s deputies identified Latson as the suspicious person and said he repeatedly refused to identify himself.
When a deputy confronted him, Latson attacked him, said a Stafford sheriff’s spokesman.
Latson was later caught and arrested, but the attack on the deputy ended 33-year law enforcement career, Fredericksburg.com reports.
The trial continues today at 10 a.m. Latson faces charges of assault and battery of a law enforcement officer.
