OmniRide has resumed operations of all routes and has increased service levels on OmniRide Express buses which began in mid-June.

Weekday Express service to destinations in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. are running on a Friday schedule, which is one step down from full-service. The increase in service levels was based on the improving COVID-19 conditions, and the Governor’s order to begin reopening the state.

In a highly unusual move, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors has edited all vulgarity out of the public comment portion of its June 16 video recording. 

Black Lives Matter supporters filled the citizen comments period demanding racial equality, the defunding of police, and the end of the 287(g) program, abolished the next day. All this comes after a month of nationwide protests that were sparked by the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd.

Doris Woodring, a long-time resident of 25 years in Westminster at Lake Ridge in Lake Ridge celebrated her supercentenarian, 110th birthday on Tuesday, June 9, outdoors in a small courtyard at WLR.

Family members, including Her three daughters and two granddaughters, traveled from Maryland, Deleware, Pennsylvania, and Texas to this celebration for a beloved matriarch, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and godmother — known to many as GiGi, mom, and the “Energizer Bunny.”

In mid-March, Javier Mareno, owner of J&M Tile, Granite, & Marble, of Woodbridge, applied for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) with the hope of receiving financial support from the Federal Government for his small, job-creating business, which had to temporarily close in March due to the coronavirus.

Beginning July 1, 2020, the Prince William County Service Authority’s Customer Service and Utility Permit counters in the Raymond Spittle Building will be open for in-person transactions Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Spittle Building is located at 4 County Complex Court in Woodbridge.

All visitors to the Spittle Building are required to wear face coverings, and there is signage in English and Spanish posted in the customer lobby to indicate required social distancing measures.

Beginning July 1, 2020, Virginia House Bill 1250, commonly known as the Community Policing Act, will become law. It requires local law enforcement agencies to collect and report certain data pertaining to drivers to the Virginia State Police during a motor vehicle (traffic) stop.

In Prince William County, some of this data was previously collected on stops that resulted in an arrest or the issuance of a Virginia Uniformed Summons (VUS).

After 24 years as ER nurse, it was her last shift at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge. Her husband, Bob, and her grandchildren gathered outside to greet her.

A county report estimates it could cost as much as $1.5 million to change the name of Jefferson Davis Highway.

Route 1 in Prince Willam County, as its also known, runs from Quantico, through Dumfries and Woodbridge, north to the Occoquan River.
