Prince William Republican Committee: “On June 19th Republicans from Prince William County, candidates for office and members of the Republican Committee, will join their fellow Americans marching in the Dumfries Juneteenth celebration…As the party founded to fight the expansion of slavery, the Republican Party joins in this celebration of Freedom becoming a reality.”

“The parade begins [Monday, June 19, 2023] at 11 AM at the corner of UMC Dumfries, 2890 Cameron Street, and ends at the Dumfries Slave Cemetery. Those wishing to march with the Republicans are asked to park at Dumfries Elementary School and surrounding areas, and line up at Dumfries UMC no later than 10 AM.”


Prince William County Public Schools: “PWCS will be providing meals free of charge for all children this summer at designated school sites as part of the Summer Food Service Program.”

“Meal service is Monday-Friday during the dates listed (except as noted below). Meals are served on a first-come, first-served basis.”


Northern Virginia Transportation Authority: “On June 8th, the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) marked a momentous occasion as it celebrated two significant milestones. This year, NVTA is proudly commemorating its 20th anniversary since its establishment, in addition to celebrating its 10th funding anniversary. These achievements were made possible through the passing of two pivotal bills.”

“In 2002, former Governor Mark Warner signed Senate Bill 576, which brought NVTA into existence. This legislation laid the foundation for the Authority to address transportation challenges in Northern Virginia. Over a decade later, in 2013, former Governor Robert McDonnell signed House Bill 2313, a transformative bill that granted NVTA a dedicated revenue stream. The funding made possible by HB 2313 has been instrumental in supporting NVTA’s mission of financing multimodal transportation projects aimed at reducing congestion across the region.”


Prince William police at 11:31 a.m.: “UPDATE: Ref Report of a Bomb Threat at [Glenkirk Elementary School in Gainesville]– No Device has been located. The school and grounds have been cleared. School faculty, staff and students will be resuming normal activities upon return to the school.”

9:46 a.m.: “Incident: Reports of Bomb Threat | Gainesville; #PWCPD is on scene at Glenkirk Elementary School located on Sedge Wren Dr for the REPORT of an Alleged bomb threat at the school. No device is suspected at the school & the building is being evacuated. Please follow police direction.”


Prince William police: Vandalism – “On June 12 at 9:59PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13200 block of Delaney Rd. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a vandalism. The investigation revealed the homeowner, heard a noise, and checked the outside of the residence where broken eggs were observed on the front of the home.”

“Further investigation noted damage to two exterior porch lights and derogatory language spray painted on an exterior porch column. Additionally, a flag displayed on an exterior fence was torn down from the fence. The spray paint was removed without causing permanent damage. The language did not contain any threats of harm to the occupants. While checking the area, officers located two additional nearby houses that were also egged. No permanent property damage was reported.”


OmniRide: “OmniRide will hold a Senior Summit on June 15 from 10 am-2:30 pm at the Ferlazzo building [15941 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge]. Community partners will showcase their services and provide resources for older adults, their families, and caregivers.”

Prince William County Government: “Perfekt Blend is the next act slated for the Fridays at 5 Concert series, which is scheduled for this Friday, June 16, at the Sean T. Connaughton Plaza at the McCoart Government Center, 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge.”

“Jaynel Jones, founder and lead singer with Perfekt Blend, said the band will bring something for everyone to enjoy.”


Prince William police: “Abduction | Robbery – On June 12 at 7:58AM, officers responded to the 10600 block of Automotive Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed earlier that morning, the victim, a 25-year-old woman, was inside her apartment in the 10200 block of Launch Cl. when an acquaintance, later identified as the accused, entered the residence without consent.”

“While inside the apartment, the accused pushed the victim before taking her phone. The accused refused to return the phone before forcing the victim into a vehicle driven by another acquaintance. While driving, the accused forced the victim to electronically transfer funds from her account.”


Prince William police: “Shooting Investigation – On June 12 at 3:18PM, officers responded to the area of Cloverdale Rd. and Carlsbad Rd. in [Dale City] to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two victims, a 17-year-old male juvenile and a 19-year-old woman, suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately provided first aid until fire and rescue personnel arrived and transported the victims to an area hospital where their injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.”

“The investigation revealed the victims, and two other individuals were inside a parked vehicle when they were approached by three masked men. One of the men brandished a firearm and fired multiple rounds, striking the two victims. When the occupants attempted to drive away, they inadvertently reversed into a nearby home before the vehicle stopped. The suspects fled in a separate vehicle prior to police arriving at the scene. No additional injuries were reported. While checking the area, officers located three homes and one vehicle that also sustained damage from being struck by gunfire.


The Dumfries Town Council honored a 101-year-old woman who worked to beautify the creek that put the town on the map.
