A string of vehicle-related crimes and a variety of arrests were reported by Fredericksburg Police over the past few days.
On November 22 and 23, several vehicles were broken into or tampered with in the downtown area. Incidents included broken windows and stolen items, such as a wallet from an unlocked vehicle on Hanover Street and a laptop on Ashford Circle.
In Stafford County, deputies responded to reports of an unusual assault on Mine Road. Victims reported that a white sedan, occupied by multiple individuals, approached them and threw eggs, striking both the victims and a vehicle. The suspects quickly fled the scene after the incident.
In another incident, a fraud complaint was filed on Mount Hope Church Road after a victim discovered multiple unauthorized transactions in various states through their banking account.

Dels. Cliff Hayes of Chesapeake and Michelle Maldonado of Manassas are among those backing new restrictions as artificial intelligence becomes more widely used.”

Stafford County Public Schools welcomed more than 2,400 juniors and seniors to the Fredericksburg Convention Center for its 4th Annual Chart Your Future Expo, the first to include juniors. Students from all five high schools and the Phoenix Center connected with 100 career-clustered exhibitors, exploring enrollment, enlistment, and employment pathways.
“Awakening the Dream: Breaking Barriers in the Fight for Justice and Unity,” PWCAC-DST announced, is the selected theme for this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Oratorical Competition and Program, marking one of the region’s longest-running tributes to Dr. King’s legacy.
Founded in 1985, the free annual event will take place Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Triangle. Six student orators from Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park will deliver speeches inspired by this year’s theme, alongside performances by the MLK Youth Community Choir and other youth groups. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the MLK Day of Service by bringing non-perishable food donations to support local pantries. Vendors and community outreach organizations will be available beginning at 10 a.m., with a snow date set for January 24.
The first denial, in a 7-1 vote, came for the Maple Valley Grove development, which would’ve had 274 units on nearly 24 acres of land. The proposal had 242 multi-family stacked units and 32 multi-family traditional units.
The second denial was for the Hoadly Square rezoning and Comprehensive Plan Amendment, which would’ve changed the land-use designation for about 48 acres from the Occoquan Reservoir Protection Area (ORPA) to a mixed-use neighborhood. The total area was 58 acres for 279 units, 265 of which were single-family attached homes and 14 single-family detached.
