OmniRide will further reduce its Express commuter bus services as of Monday, April 27, due to low ridership during the coronavirus pandemic. While Express ridership has dropped by 90 percent, OmniRide will continue to operate a few core commuter routes that are serving essential personnel.

The move comes after the transit agency suspended bus fares back on March 18.

William Stansbery, Jr.

William Bond Stansbery, Jr. (“Bill”) passed away peacefully on April 19, 2020. He was 70. A native of Arlington, VA, Bill is preceded in death by parents William Bond Stansbery and Elizabeth Stansbery. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving sister, Pamela Brown and her husband Martin, his nephew Rusty Brown (Summer) and their daughter Lorelei, his nephew Chris Brown (fiancé Amy Lee), and a host of devoted relatives and friends.

The amount of residential trash produced in Northern Virginia has surged with most people out of work and all Virginia students attending school from home.

According to John Poague, the owner of Patriot Disposal, trash amounts have risen by 30-40% due to people cleaning out their houses, food waste, and increased shipping.

Tenants at the Manassas Mall will are getting some relief when it comes to their monthly rent payments. 

From April to May, the retail landlord will give a 60% to 70% rent discount for tenants. Tenants will have to pay their share of the common area maintenance charges and property taxes. Owners of the mall, Out of the Box Ventures will pay out of pocket to cover the remaining cost of the rents.

Manassas Park will be using a combination of payment from the sale of land, proffers, and tax revenue to offset costs for the new downtown development project.

The city is making plans to develop a large area of land between Manassas Drive and the Virginia Express Railway (VRE) station in the hopes that it will gain more revenue by attracting both new residents and consumers to the area.
