Neither rain, nor sleet, nor contagion will keep Fredericksburg from going through with its plans for a General Election on May 5.

There are three seats on the City Council up for grabs, to include the mayor’s seat. There are also two at-large seats on the city School Board that are up for grabs.


Woodbridge residents could soon see changes to the color and smell of their water as crews work to flush the system. 

The Prince William County Service Authority will be conducting its annual spring flushing of the water distribution system from late March through mid-June. This is a routine maintenance process and is not related to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Today, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a stay-at-home order, telling state residents to only travel if it’s necessary — to places like grocery stores, or to seek medical attention. Violating the order, he said, could be punishable by up to a year in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump announced his social distancing orders — which also require U.S. citizens to stay at home, work from home, and travel only when necessary, would be extended through April. Adhering to these rules could reduce the expected number of coronavirus deaths in the U.S., which was forecasted to be as many as 200,000, according to Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

A mix of new retail and residential buildings are envisioned in Manassas Park, Northern Virginia’s youngest city, all in an effort to attract new residents and shoppers to the area.

City Manager Laszlo Palko will unveil to the city’s Governing Body an updated concept plan for phases three and four of the city’s development plans for the area between Manassas Drive and the Manassas Park Virginia Railway Express station. A public meeting will be held at Manassas Park City Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam today tightened his grip on Virginia residents with a new executive order that limits the free travel of those in the commonwealth as the coronavirus continues to spread.

Since 2005, House of Mercy has been servicing the NoVA community through their food pantry and thrift store, but recently, their efforts have shifted to something new: making masks for local healthcare workers. 

The idea came in part from executive director Jessica Root’s mother, who is a nurse in New York. She suggested Root do something to prepare Virginia healthcare professionals for COVID-19.
