Manuel Alberto Pardo Garcia born May 11, 1953 in Santiago, Chile. Manuel eventually made his way to the United States in the late 1970’s. He was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed watching his family, friends and played in his younger years. He worked as an Engineer for PEPCO for over 30+ years and was loved by his co-workers. Manuel was a wonderful passionate human being and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was always the first person on the dance floor and the last to leave, especially if it was Rock-n-Roll, oldies and/or cumbia. He loved business especially making money, making people laugh with his corny dad jokes or one of his many talents. He loved spending time in the great outdoors with his family. He was full of life and felt young; always saying that age was just a number and he was a kid at heart. On the 21st of January 2021, he was called home to be with God. He will be missed by so many; especially his wife, children, and his grandchildren.

Last year, through the budget process, Stafford funded $1.6 million to community partners. Additionally, the County granted nearly $500,000 in CARES Act money to community partners to sustain them during the pandemic.
“We have a very hands-on approach with our community partners. We get to know them and understand their programming and initiatives. We monitor their outcomes to ensure they are addressing community needs,” said Deputy County Administrator Donna Krauss, who also oversees Stafford’s Human Services office. “When the pandemic worsened, affecting incomes, mental health and other social issues, we were confident we could count on our partners.”

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington adoption services experienced a dramatic increase in the number of new families beginning pre-placement training to open their homes to children waiting to be adopted.
The organization saw 20 new families begin the program in the last six months, compared to seven during the same timeframe the previous year. The organization assisted in more than 100 adoptions overall last year, providing critical pre-placement, placement and post-placement assistance to families in crisis and potential adoptive and foster parents.
For the last decade, Virginia has banned private plans on the state’s health insurance exchange from covering abortions in all but narrow circumstances.
