A good Samaritan fired shots at an oncoming car that eventually hit a woman, and his son, following a melee at a Woodbridge commuter lot.

On Saturday, February 27 at 7:25 p.m., officers were called to report pedestrians struck at the Horner Road commuter lot, 13455 Telegraph Road in Woodbridge.

Extending Metrorail to Prince William County will be the focus of a virtual meeting tonight.

The Prince William Conservation Alliance will host an online discussion about the possibility of extending the heavy-rail system, which ferries passengers in and out of Washington, D.C., south from Springfield to Woodbridge.

Class passing rates dropped from 86.3 percent to 84.8 percent in county middle schools in the second quarter. The number of middle school students that are failing two or more subjects increased from 5.2 percent in the first quarter to 6.5 percent in the second quarter.

According to Dr. Jennifer Cassata, a director and researcher of Accountability and Strategic planning for the county schools, the overall proportion of students failing two or more classes is similar to the rate during the 2019-2020 school year, which was 5.2 percent. However, the rate is significantly lower than the 2020-2021 school year, which was 17.9 percent.

On Friday, February 25, at 6:35 p.m., police went to Dale Boulevard and Ridgefield Road in Dale City to investigate a sexual assault.

A 36-year-old woman told police that she was jogging when a man grabbed her from behind. The man inappropriately touched the victim before she pushed him away, police said.

Manassas Public Schools repealed the last traces of its mask mandate that had been in effect since students returned to classes last summer.

According to school division spokeswoman Al Radford, the division no longer requires teachers, staff, bus drivers, or children riding school buses to wear face masks.

On February 25 at 4:39 a.m., officers responded to the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Dumfries Rd in Manassas (20112) to investigate a two-vehicle crash.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2003 Toyota Sienna was traveling north on the Prince William Parkway approaching Dumfries Road when the driver disregarded a red traffic signal and struck a 2018 Chevrolet Express van attempting to turn left onto the parkway from Dumfries Road.

On Friday, Schools Superintendent Dr. LaTanya McDade announced the changes in policy at the state’s second-largest school division, ending a forced masking policy that had been in place since August. McDade’s announcement comes after the CDC revised its rules on Friday, February 26, which now recommends no masks in jurisdictions where coronavirus transmission is considered low.

According to the CDC, Prince William County has a low virus transmission rate, while Stafford County is ranked “medium” on the new three-tiered scale.

On February 23 at 8:54PM, officers responded to Uncle Julio’s located at 14900 Potomac Town Pl. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a larceny. An employee of the restaurant reported to police that after dining at the establishment, a group of teenaged males fled on foot to the parking lot without paying.
