“Glow in the Dark Volleyball. Adults Only. Halloween Themed. TOURNAMENT style,” Stafford County Parks and Recreation (Facebook) posted. “Today (Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025) is the LAST DAY to register for the first of its kind.”

The Glow-in-the-Dark Adult Volleyball Tournament will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Courthouse Community Center, located at 21 Stafford Avenue in Stafford, Virginia.

Golf classic raises over $42K for local cancer care and nursing scholarships

The UVA Community Health Foundation raised more than $42,000 during its 34th Friends of the Foundation Golf Classic, held September 26 at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville. The event brought together over 115 golfers, volunteers, and staff in support of cancer care and nursing scholarships in Prince William and Haymarket.

Proceeds will benefit cancer services at UVA Health Cancer Care Gainesville and Manassas, as well as scholarship opportunities for nurses at UVA Health Haymarket and Prince William Medical Centers. Organizers noted a 25% increase in funds raised compared to last year’s tournament.

VRE to hold 5th Annual Tour de VRE this Saturday

The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) will host the 5th Annual Tour de VRE on Saturday, October 4.

This year’s route will follow VRE’s Manassas Line, with a 35-mile ride beginning at Backlick Road Station in Fairfax County and ending at Broad Run Station in Prince William County. Along the way, cyclists will visit several VRE stations and the communities they serve, including Springfield, Burke, Clifton, Manassas, and Bristow. An 8-mile ride will begin at Manassas Park Station and end at Broad Run Station.

Report: White House eyes cutting up Discovery for Houston move

The KeepTheShuttle team claims to have obtained a letter from a congressional staffer confirming that the White House’s Office of Management & Budget has directed the Smithsonian and NASA to examine plans to disassemble the Space Shuttle Discovery to facilitate its relocation to Houston.

The letter, sent by the Smithsonian to congressional authorizing and appropriating committees, warns that moving Discovery would likely require dismantling the historic orbiter. This process would cause “irreparable damage” to its aluminum frame, 24,000 ceramic tiles, and 2,000 thermal insulation blankets. The Smithsonian and NASA estimate the base cost of such a move to be between Z$120 million and $150 million, excluding the cost of constructing a new exhibit in Texas, which far exceeds the currently authorized $85 million.
