Updated: Potomac Mills sign removed, I-95 lanes reopening

A portion of I-95 south at the Potomac Mills sigs was closed traffic after the sign began to lean after high winds.

The sign has been removed. The latest from VDOT:

VDOT has been advised that the sign has been removed; VDOT crews are working to reopen all lanes within the hour. 95 Express Lanes will operate on a regular schedule Monday morning.

WOODBRIDGE — Crews are standing by to take down the iconic Potomac Mills sign.

The 140-foot tall sign along Interstate 95 is leaning, blown askew by wind gusts topping 70 mph hour on Friday, March 2.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — A comprehensive plan amendment could lead to 130 new homes in the Rural Crescent.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will hear a case for a comprehensive plan amendment, if approved, would allow for the conversion of 325 acres of preserved land in the Coles District into a semi-rural Mid-County Park and Estate Homes neighborhood of single-family homes, if built.

Stafford BZA to Confederate flag protestors: You have no case

STAFFORD — Two people who complained to Stafford County’s government about a Confederate battle flag high over Interstate 95.

One of them is a Stafford County resident Patricia Joshi who lives about six miles from where the flag flies over a home on Truslow Road and can be seen 80 feet over the highway.

A new 4th lane on I-95 in Prince William under review could benefit drivers and lead to compensation for Express Lanes operator

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Officials are reviewing a project that would add a 4th travel lane on Interstate 95 south in Prince William County.

The lane would run from Route 123 to Prince William County and push back a bottleneck on the highway drivers face as the cross the Occoquan River, where the highway’s regular travel lanes reduce from eight to six.
