Pedestrian dies in crash, driver flees scene

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car near Manassas.

Police were called to the area of Balls Ford and Sudley roads at 5 a.m. to investigate a hit and run crash. A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of a silver-colored sedan was turning west onto Balls Ford Road from Sudley Road and struck a pedestrian who was crossing Sudley Road.

Lavangelene Aereka “Vangie” Williams says she’ll participate in a Democratic forum scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3 on Facebook Live. The two-time candidate for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District will face a Primary opponent, Qasim Rashid, who last year ran for the 28th District seat in the Virginia ~~House of Delegates~~ Senate seat and lost to ~~Joshua Cole~~ Richard Stuart (R).

Exclusive: Prince William schools to allow in-person graduation ceremonies

Seniors at Prince William County high schools that were supposed to walk across the graduation stage this spring will have their chance after all.

The county School Board will announce during an emergency evening meeting on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, that all 12 high schools will hold an in-person graduation ceremony during the first full week of August. The division plans to allow each school to hold a graduation ceremony inside its football stadium.

Stafford Education Foundation awards $8,000 in scholarships

Karoline Colucci, of Mountain View High School, is a recipient of a Stafford Education Foundation scholarship.

Four Stafford County high school students are now the recipients of $8,000 of scholarship money.

The Stafford Education Foundation (SEF) recently awarded $2,000 scholarships to Aaryn Boatwright, of Colonial Forge High School, Karoline Colucci, of Mountain View High School, Crystan Rice, of North Stafford High School, and Jonathan Margrave, of Stafford High School. Students were notified they received a scholarship through videoconference technology.

5 kayakers on Rappahannock River call for help

Five kayakers were assisted to shore by fire and rescue crews.

Those kayakers abandoned their boats near the in the Rappahannock River, near the Interstate 95 bridge near Fredericksburg, about 3;56 p.m. Saturday. Stafford County Fire and Rescue crews were called to the scene to help them, but no one was injured, states fire chief Joseph Cardello.

Man, 20, dies after truck slams into disabled car on I-66

A 20-year-old man has died after he was struck while sitting in a car on Interstate 66 in Gainesville.

Prince William police were called to the scene at 4:10 p.m. on Friday, April 24. A 2016 Toyota Corolla was disabled on the exit ramp from eastbound I-66 to southbound Lee Highway (Route 29).

If your business is still open to the public, the Fredericksburg City government has just posted a list of the six things business owners in its city should be doing in the wake of the coronavirus spread.

The list comes amid Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s mandatory stay-at-home order for state residents, which restricts residents from leaving the state, and only making trips to essential business like grocery, hardware, automotive stores, and restaurants.
