It’s become one of my favorite, annual  Christmastime traditions — seeing the President’s Own Marine Corps Band perform live at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps Band will perform at 7:30 p.m on Saturday, Dec. 14 inside the museum’s Leatherneck Gallery, as it does every year. The concert is free to attend, but the band always packs the house, so you’ll want to arrive early to get a good seat.

A new 1,400-space, seven-floor commuter parking deck will be built between Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and Wegmans in Woodbridge, where a new Potomac Nationals baseball stadium was slated to go.

The stadium deal fell through in 2o17 when the team and county leaders couldn’t reach a stadium financing deal. The team moved to Fredericksburg, became the Fredericksburg Nationals, and is slated to play ball in a new $30 million stadium in April.

Sheriff Glen Hill will says he wants to keep 287g.

Hill chairs the county’s Jail Board, which has appointed representatives from the Manassas City Council, and the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. Some of the incoming supervisors elected this month say they don’t like the 287g program.

Sheriff Glen Hill presented Paul Ebert with a plaque honoring his long service on the Prince William County Jail Board.

Ebert, Prince William County’s Commonwealth Attorney since 1968, has served on the jail board since 1992.

It only took a week for Katherine Gotthardt, the author of “A Crane Named Steve” to raise $1,000 for ACTS in Dumfries.

The book, released on Amazon, is about the crane that captured the hearts and minds of Interstate 66 commuters earlier this year was just released on Amazon, with a goal of donating proceeds of the sale of the book to charity.

The long-serving Michele McQiugg will now have a park and trailhead named for her at the corner of Old Bridge Road and Oakwood Drive in Lake Ridge.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors named the 15-acre park after the public servant who, for 25 years, served as the Occoquan District Supervisors from 1992 to 1997, in the House of Delegates from 1997 to 2007, and as the Prince William County Clerk of the Circuit Court from 2008 until her death in February 2017.

Stanley Martin Homes wants to develop 141 acres of land just outside Manassas, at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue.

In order for the development to be built as proposed, the county must amend its comprehensive plan for the area, which had originally called for more commercial and office space in the area.

It is the only library in our area that primarily serves three jurisdictions — Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William County. And, it’s about to close for six months for renovations.

Those renovations come as both Manassas and Manassas Park look to pull out of a shared-services agreement with Prince William County and start their own libraries.

The results of a study to improve Route 28 in Prince William County will be presented on Wednesday.

Dubbed the “STARS” study by the Virginia Department of Transportation, and differing from the effort to widen Route 28, engineers have been studying ways to improve traffic flow between Old Centreville Road and the Bull Run/Fairfax County line.
