A smoker is to blame for a house fire that damaged three townhomes Monday afternoon.

We were the first to tell you yesterday the blaze broke out at 12:45 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of Potomac Hills Drive. No one was injured, but 10 people were displaced.

Michelle Davis Younger delivered a “state of the city” address to the Manassas City Council.

The speech delivered Monday night focused largely on herself, her election to the City Council last fall, and what she’s been up to since then. “When I was elected in November 2020, the city saw a positive…and, yes, it was a positive and tremendous change,” said Davis Younger.

Virginia public radio station WCVE in Richmond retracted a column posted to its website today — a fact check piece about former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

The piece, which was also shared by statewide news aggregator Va News from the Virginia Public Access Project, called out McAuliffe for falsely claiming his Republican opponent, Glenn Youngkin, praised him during a panel discussion the Youngkin hosted in 2018, on which McAuliffe was a panelist.

Police in Prince William County is investigating a road rage incident that led to a firearm being brandished near a local high school.

The 24-year-old female victim was driving near Colgan High School on Monday afternoon, at the intersection of Route 234 and Hoadly Road near Dale City. A sedan began following her and driving aggressively around her. At one point, while the victim was stopped, the driver of the blue sedan pulled up and brandished a gun, police said.

A total of 10 people are displaced, and one person injured after a fire ripped through a Stafford County townhome community today.

Crews were called to the 400 block of Potomac Hills Drive in the northern section of the county just before 1 p.m. They found flames shooting the roof of a two-story townhome.

A pilot had a hairy landing on Sunday night in Manassas.

At 9:45 p.m., aircraft controllers at the Manassas Regional Airport notified airport officials about a plane that had not checked in. The pilot of the plane, which had been bound airport, then made an emergency landing on runway 16L with its landing gear locked in place, said airport spokesman Richard Allabaugh.

The Manassas City School Board today was supposed to talk about implicit bias.

“It’s an important topic because it is something that everybody has. It doesn’t matter who you are, what race you are, your status… and it affects how you react to things,” said Manassas School Board Chairman Sanford Williams.

Manassas Airport officials this month voted to make some key changes at Virginia’s largest municipal airfield.

First, the airport is working to shorten the list of pilots’ names on a list to rent hangar space at the airport. A total of 160 people are waiting for a covered space to store their planes at the airport as of June 16. On average, it’s a two to three-year wait, said Richard Allabaugh, airport spokesman.

The massive vaccination clinic in Woodbridge will close today, leaving many in Prince William County needed to travel to the Manassas area to get their coronavirus shot.

A vaccine clinic at the former Gander Mountain store, located at 14041 Worth Avenue, will close its doors for the last at 5:30 p.m. today. Since then, the clinic opened in March and, since then, the rate of those getting the coronavirus vaccine has fallen.
