Brentsville Courthouse turns 200; Year-long celebration starts April 30, ‘Bicentennial Court Day’

This year, several celebrations are planned as Brentsville Courthouse, a former Prince William County seat, turns 200 years old.

County leaders just announced “Brentsville Bicentennial Court Day” on Saturday, April 30. This will be the largest bicentennial celebration honoring Brentsville. The area was once a bustling community full of agriculture and trade. Activities will include mock trials, historic tradespeople, militia muster, markets, music, food, and demonstrations.

Manassas airport optimistic about its chances of getting $10 million to replace it’s 65-year-old air traffic control tower

Miyares on masks: AG urges parents of children denied education to file complaint

Gov. Glen Youngkin’s mask choice executive order took effect Monday, January 24, giving parents the option to send their children to school without a facemask. Afterward, many parents who sent their child to school without a mask said their children were segregated from their classmates, sat along in the backs of classrooms, or removed from classrooms altogether, forced to spend the day in administrative offices, and denied a proper education.

The Prince William County School Board voted unanimously to sue Youngkin, joining multiple Northern Virginia school divisions who chose to ignore the executive order from the newly-inaugurated Republican governor.

Major work on Brentsville interchange is about to begin on Prince William Parkway

A new design for an interchange at Rt. 234, Pr. Wm. Parkway, Brentsville and Dumfries roads now includes a pedestrian bridge over four lanes of Route 234 near Manassas.

Work is underway on what transportation planners call a new, innovative interchange on Prince William Parkway, at Brentsville Road.
