A Fredericksburg area man was killed in a crash with a  tractor-trailer on Interstate 95.

Virginia State Police Trooper K. Zalasar is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Spotsylvania County. The crash occurred Thursday (April 30, 2020) at 9 a.m. on Interstate 95 at the 117 mile-marker, near Thornburg.

Ann Little is running for Mayor of the City of Fredericksburg.

She’ll face incumbent Mayor Katherine Greenlaw in an upcoming city-wide election on May 19. That election was postponed from May 5 by order of Gov. Ralph Northam, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There’s been a sharp decrease in the number of drivers on the roads as a result of the coronavirus pandemic keeping everyone home.

A major contributor to this traffic pattern has been the number of people who are now working from home to avoid the spread of the virus. While there are many in the workforce who have been deemed essential and still commute, many more are sitting at home, in front of their laptops, attending virtual meetings through Zoom, and other online communication platforms.

Three wastewater treatment plants are being consolidated into one to save taxpayers money and lessen the environmental impact on the Rappahannock River.

Under the plan, Fredericksburg would close its wastewater treatment plant and direct the wastewater to a facility in Spotslyvania County.

Manassas Park will be using a combination of payment from the sale of land, proffers, and tax revenue to offset costs for the new downtown development project.

The city is making plans to develop a large area of land between Manassas Drive and the Virginia Express Railway (VRE) station in the hopes that it will gain more revenue by attracting both new residents and consumers to the area.

Former Stafford County Hartwood District Supervisor Joe Brito has proposed building a new road that would connect five separate roadways west of Interstate 95 with a new four-lane highway.

The conceptual highway would run north to south and would include connecting Mine Road and Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) to Centreport Parkway. Also, part of the idea contains a reconstructed Berea Church Road, which would join to Celebrate Virginia Parkway and would cross the Rappahannock River and connect to Carl D. Silver Parkway in Fredericksburg, and would end at Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County.
