Kinston, N.C. –– Three errors doomed the Potomac Nationals on Sunday in Kinston, contributing to three unearned runs in a 5-4 series-opening victory for the Indians.

With the loss – in which the Nationals committed multiple errors for the 11th time in their last 18 games – Potomac has dropped three straight games, while the Indians notched their sixth consecutive win. The P-Nats have now lost seven of the first eight games with the Indians in 2011.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. –– Four unearned runs in the first inning set the tone for a disheartening 11-3 loss in Myrtle Beach on Saturday night that gave the Pelicans a victory in the first series of the second half.

The Pelicans rode 18 hits, a strong outing from Barret Loux and a trio of big innings to victory in the rubber match with the Potomac Nationals.

PRTC representatives will be available at Potomac Mills mall today from noon until 4 p.m. selling the bus passes for $25 per pass –– a $5 savings off the regular price.

The pass is good for unlimited rides on OmniLink buses in Prince William, Manassas and Manassas Park from now until Sept. 3.

The program is the first of its kind in the school division, but Colonial Forge is enrolling 192 more students in the fall than the school was designed to hold, reports Fredericksburg.com.

The school system’s policy allows high students to transfer into other schools that do not offer similar academic programs at their own schools. However, the policy was revised last year to allow the school superintendent to override transfer decisions.
