The Virginia Department of Transportation will give drivers their own Christmas gift this year: the suspension of most lane closures and opening the HOV lanes to all traffic.

Lane closures will not in place starting noon Friday through noon Tuesday, Dec. 27, and again from noon Dec. 30 until Tuesday, Jan. 3 for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weekends.

Stafford, Va. — As Stafford’s Board of Supervisor’s Chairman prepares to head to Richmond next month for his new job as Delegate, there is talk about changing the make-up of county’s Board of Supervisors.

Del. –Elect Mark Dudenhefer (R-Stafford, Woodbridge) was elected in November to serve in Richmond when the General Assembly convenes Jan. 13. That will leave open not only the Garrisonville District Supervisor’s seat but also the title of Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.


Prince William

Quantico, Va. — Quantico just got a DMV office, even if it’s open just one day a month.

Virginia DMV officials and commanders at Quantico on Dec. 12 celebrated the opening of DMV 2 Go mobile office, which provides many of the same services offered to residents who visit DMV offices across the state.

North Stafford, Va. – Some might want to look twice, perhaps up, before they use a public restroom.

Stafford sheriff deputies said they caught a man who was in the ceiling on Sunday peeping on women while they were in the bathroom stall at Giant Food in the Doc Stone shopping center. The woman, a store employee, looked up and saw a hand sticking out of the ceiling. So she ran out the bathroom, grabbed a manager, brought them into the manager who told the man to come down but got no response, said Stafford sheriff spokesman Bill Kennedy.


Woodbridge, Va. — Two men from Maryland are charged in a robbery at a popular convenience store in Woodbridge on Nov. 30.

The U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Taskforce located one of the suspects in the robbery in Timonium, Md. on Wednesday, about 80 miles north of where the robbery took place at the Handy Dandy Market on Occoquan Road. That arrest led to the capture of another man Thursday in Prince George’s County, Md., said police.
