Dumfries, VA – Cleveland Anderson, local small business owner and candidate for the House of Delegates, received the endorsement of Governor Bob McDonnell in his bid for the 52nd District House of Delegates seat.
Announcing his endorsement of Anderson, Governor McDonnell said, “I am pleased to support Cleveland Anderson for Delegate because he is a proven job-creator in Prince William County. As a local businessman, Cleveland knows how to create jobs, meet a payroll and grow the local economy. Cleveland knows that private sector jobs are created with lower taxes, balanced budgets and reduced government regulation. Please join me in supporting Cleveland Anderson for Delegate in the 52nd House District.”
Because the East Coast earthquake that occurred in August could have damaged your chimney it’s more important than ever to have it inspected before you start a fire in the fireplace, woodstove or turn on your furnace this fall and winter. Chimney damage could be hard to see and it may have affected the lining of the chimney preventing proper ventilation of harmful gases. It’s important to understand that just looking at the outside of the chimney is not enough. It needs to be inspected by a professional inside and out and is not limited to masonry chimneys. Prefabricated metal chimneys should also be inspected. If cracks in the chimney lining or lose joints in metal chimney go undetected carbon monoxide will escape into the living area or burning embers could pass through, which could ignite combustible material and spark a house fire.
Some damage is obvious, and some is hidden:
Rescue crews were called to the area of U.S. 17 and Lendall Road in Stafford County about 3 p.m. after three vehicles – including a school bus with children on board – crashed, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.
“In all, thirty-seven patients were evaluated with seven being transported via the Medical Ambulance Bus to Mary Washington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” said Doyle in a press release.
This week, Del. Richard L. Anderson (R-51st) will conduct two legislative events as a result of the 2011 redistricting of Virginia’s legislative boundaries and in preparation for the 2012 legislative session of the Virginia General Assembly.
On Wednesday, October 19th, Del. Anderson will conduct a live free telephone town hall at 7:30 PM for all residents of the 51st House District. He will meet with voters for one hour by telephone and share ideas for the 2012 legislative session in Richmond. He will also ask for the views of voters and open the line for them to ask questions. To initiate the conference, Anderson’s office will simply call the home telephone numbers of several thousand residents and invite them to participate. By staying on the line, residents will be connected automatically to the conference, which will last for no more than one hour.
This October, it seems that everyone from football teams to hockey leagues is turning pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Stafford County Fire and Rescue has even designed new shirts with the department’s logo in pink. Proceeds from the sale of shirts will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation and are being sold by Local 4012.
The iPhone 4s was delivered this past Friday, posing a problem for Apple fanatics who work during the day. If there was no one home to sign for the newest Apple toy, then depending on the store the phone was shipped through on the delivery side, customers would have to either go to the UPS store their phone was routed through or wait until Monday, an unacceptable outcome for some 200 people who opted to drive to the Springfield UPS store Friday evening and wait in line for their phones.
At 7:45 p.m. the line was some 140 people long, and while they grumbled about the wait, and the cold, none of them seemed willing to leave. Rodney Saunders from Woodbridge became angry only after the line was divided into “Fairfax and north” and “South of Lorton” lines. “The Fairfax line sucked right into the door and they’re all coming out and they came before me! What ever happened to going in the order people arrived?” After a few minutes, though, even Saunders was chuckling that “It’s just one more example of Northern Virgina not thinking we Prince William [County] folks count.”
According to the Virginia State Board of Elections, those who need to register can print out the forms online and mail them or take them to a local registrar’s office in Prince William or Stafford counties. The elections board does not allow users to submit their forms online.
Several candidates are running for election this year, with seats on county Board of Supervisors, State Senate and House of Delegate seats up for grabs.
