RICHMOND – Virginia State Police honored fallen troopers, including the late Johnny Rush Bowman, from Manassas. He died in 1984 after he was stabbed 45 times while off-duty at his home.

The case is still unsolved, and the FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the case.

WOODBRIDGE – Victor Angry has been appointed to the Board of Commissioners for the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission.

DALE CITY — On Saturday, Leadership Prince William (LPW) and Comcast saw a record-breaking 318 volunteers in a day of service.

This is the fifth consecutive year that LPW and Comcast have teamed up on a local community service project for the annual Comcast Cares Day. According to LPW Executive Director Andrea Money, the normal turnout for these events is around 200 to 250 people.

DUMFRIES – Republican voters chose Doug Taggart to be their nominee for Potomac District Supervisor. Taggart won the May 4 Firehouse Primary to become the Republican nominee for this November’s election to represent the Potomac District on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

“In my judgment, poisonous national politics have no place in local elections in Prince William County. I intend to run a positive campaign focused on economic development, transportation challenges, schools, public safety and other issues that are important to families, individuals, and businesses in our region,” Taggart said.

STAFFORD COUNTY — Students at Brooke Point High School are great at getting people to sign-up to vote.

Brooke Point High School’s Inspire Virginia club earned the 2019 Governor’s Award for meeting the criteria of the Governor’s Voter Registration Challenge. This is the third consecutive year the club has earned the award and is the only high school in Virginia to accomplish this challenge.
