Woodbridge, Va. — A small grease fire forced the evacuation of Wegmans grocery store in the Potomac Town Center on Friday morning.
No one was injured, but those who were there for the evacuation were unable to go about their normal shopping routines.
The fire started in the Asian food section of the prepared foods section, we’re told.
One person on the scene said they counted 17 fire and rescue vehicles that were called out to assist.
There was no damage to the store, as the heat vent above the grill was able to pull the smoke from the store.
The grocery store was only closed for less than an hour following the fire.
Wegmans opened its Woodbridge location in June 2008 to large fanfare, and it remains one of the busiest grocery stores in the Potomac Communities.
In addition to a complete supermarket, the location also boasts a wine store, several restaurant-style eateries with a dining area as well as a home goods section.
