Man charged with resisting arrest, officers thumb twisted

A 69-year-old Dumfries man is charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

According to police, the suspect attempted to grab an officer by the throat after police were called to a house to investigate a fight.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On April 7 at 10:38PM, officers responded to a residence located on the 15500 block of Laurel Ridge Rd in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a domestic. Officers arrived at the residence and eventually made contact with the accused.  During the encounter, the accused attempted to grab an officer by the throat. When the officers attempted to arrest the accused, he resisted and twisted an officer’s thumb. The accused was quickly detained without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

The Montgomery County Women’s Chorus will present a concert to benefit the Betty Ann Krahnke shelter for survivors of domestic violence. 100% of ticket sales (less any online processing fees) will go to the shelter.
