2 Charged in Prescription Fraud

North Stafford, Va. –– Charges have been filed in the case of two men who tried to fraudulently obtain a prescription, authorities say.

About 9 p.m. Friday, Stafford sheriff’s deputies were called to a CVS Pharmacy on Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) by an employee who said he had fake order for a prescription.

A call from the pharmacy to the doctor’s office listed on the order also revealed the order was fake, and that’s when deputies posted outside the pharmacy and waited for the suspect to return, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

The man who had dropped off the prescription order returned, where he was confronted by a sheriff’s deputy about the prescription.

Sheriff’s deputies say another man was involved in trying to obtain a fraudulent prescription. That man, who was sitting in his car in the parking lot of the pharmacy while the first man went inside, suddenly drove away when he saw sheriff’s deputies arrive, said Kennedy.

Both men were arrested and charged.

David Brown, 22, and Mark Annunzi, 27, both of Fredericksburg, are charged with prescription fraud, said Kennedy.

Annunzi remains in the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Brown posted bond and was released.
