North Stafford, Va. –– A fire broke out at a Stafford County apartment complex injuring one man.
Fire and rescue crews were called to an apartment at 1401 Providence Street, off Mine Road and Greenspring Drive, at 4:41 a.m. Sunday.
Crews entered the three-story apartment building and found fire in the bedroom of apartment 203.
They extended a hand line into house, and also received help from the interior sprinkler system which contained the blaze which allowed crews to extinguish it, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.
One man suffered burns to his feet and hands and was taken to a local hospital by a neighbor before rescue crews arrived. His injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
No one else was injured in the blaze.
The Red Cross was called to help at least two residents that were displaced by the fire, said Doyle.
Damage to the home is estimated to be $100,000.
