DALE CITY, Va. — In true Dale City tradition, the annual 4th of July Parade will begin Thursday at 10 a.m.
With 130 groups and organizations marching in this year’s event, it’s one of the largest 4th of July Parades in Virginia.
“I really don’t know of any larger July 4th celebration anywhere,” said Prince William Neabsco District Supervisor John Jenkins, who represents Dale City.
Parade floats will line up starting at 9 a.m. at Mapledale Plaza, at Dale Boulevard and Queensdale Drive. The parade will then take it’s normal route from Queensdale Drive east on Dale Boulevard, and then turn right onto Gemi Way, behind Center Plaza, where a family fun day will be held complete with games and food, said Jenkins.
As it does each year, the Prince William County Police Department will close the eastbound portion of Dale Boulevard Thursday morning to regular traffic. During the parade, which can last more than two hours, two-way traffic will travel on the westbound portion of Dale Boulevard under police direction.
This will be the 45th year for the Dale City 4th of July Parade.
