Police Solve Suspicious Notes Cases

MANASSAS, Va. — The man behind those threatening notes left on doorsteps in homes in Manassas has turned himself in, police said.

A 21-year-old male whose name police will not release was suffers a mental disability, and is suspected of leaving threatening notes on city doorsteps on December 2012 and again in March.

“In coordination with mental health services, the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, and the young man’s family, it was decided that public safety and his welfare will be best served through continued and improved services and supervision,” said Manassas Sgt. Lowell Nevill.

No charges will be filed against the man. No one was injured during the incidents, but some homes sustained property damage.

“Detectives are facilitating restitution between the young man’s family and the victims of property damage,” said Nevill.
