Plastic Left Burning Inside Burglarized House

MANASSAS, Va. — When police arrived to this Manassas house after a report of a burglary, they smelled something burning.

Officers were called to a home in the 8900 block of Weir Street for a report of a burglary about 1 p.m. Wednesday. They found a sliding glass door shattered and then found a plastic dish that had been left on a hot stove, said Manassas police Sgt. Lowell Nevill.

The suspect walked into the house, placed the plastic dish on the stove and then left, added Nevill.

Police later arrested Rebecca Lynn Jacques, 40, of 8909 Weir Street, and charged her with burglary with the intent to commit arson, possession of a firearm during the comission of a felony, carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated, and public intoxication, said Nevill.

She was held without bond and is scheduled to appear in a Manassas courtroom on July 9.

Residential Vandalism

Manassas City Police are investigating the damaging of the siding of a residence on the 10300 block of O’Connell Drive.  A resident reported that at approximately 11:30PM on Saturday, May 18, he heard a popping sound outside his house.  He later discovered sixteen pellet-sized holes in the siding of the rear of the home, which faces parts of Garst Drive and Hampton Road.  He found a white pellet similar to those fired by an ‘airsoft’ pellet gun.

Larceny from Business

Manassas City Police are investigating the larceny of two ladders from a company truck belonging to ‘JD Edwards Painting’ at 9288 Prince William Street.  The larceny occurred sometime between the 8:00PM Monday, May 27, and 7:00AM Tuesday, May 28.  The truck was parked on the business’s property. 

Peeping into Occupied Dwelling

Manassas City Police are investigative a ‘peeping’ incident which occurred at approximately 8:00AM Sunday, May 26.  A resident of a ground-floor apartment on the 9500 block of Cannoneer Court reported that she was in her bedroom when she noticed a man staring into her window. She said she yelled for him to get away from her window, picked up her phone to call 911 and closed the blinds.  She saw the suspect run off toward the area of Mayfield Fort.  She described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6`0″ to 6`2″ tall, with a very thin build, approximately 30 to 35 years old, bald with no facial hair.
