Fairfax County — Virginia transportation officials suspended roadwork on most major highway projects throughout the state in observance of the 2010 holiday season.
But the New Year means crews and equipment will soon be working again.
Here’s some info you need to get around two of the major road projects happening right now in the Potomac Communities:
BRAC/ Fairfax County Parkway Extension
Nighttime work – Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
I-95 north and south, and HOV for one mile south of Franconia Springfield Pkwy (Route 7900) overpass – Multiple lanes closed Monday – Friday nights for overhead sign work.
Weekday work – Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
I-95 north and south, and HOV for one mile from the Franconia Springfield Pkwy (Route 7900) – Single lane closed Monday – Friday day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for overhead sign work.
Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) north and south from Backlick Rd. to Hooes Rd. – Single lane closed Monday – Friday for road work.
Fullerton Rd. north and south, from Backlick Rd. to Boston Blvd. – Single lane closed Monday – Friday for paving and concrete placement.
Hooes Rd. north and south between White House Dr. and Rolling Rd. – Single lane closed Monday – Friday for clearing. Flagger to directed traffic.
All closures are weather permitting.

I-95 north between the Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) and one mile south of Exit 166, Fairfax
County Pkwy (Route 7100) – Right lane closed Monday – Thursday for bridge work.
I-95 south between Exit 166, Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) and Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) – Right lane closed Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for sign mounting, and light pole installation.
