A 16-year-old girl was killed Friday night in an Old Town Manassas shooting during First Friday, Police Chief Doug Keen said.
A 21-year-old man was taken to Fairfax County Hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition, Keen said at a late-night briefing near Battle Street and Center Street.
Keen called it an active shooter incident and said about 10,000 people were in Old Town for First Friday.
“We know someone saw something,” he said.
The shooting happened around the railroad tracks at Foster’s Grill by the depot, Keen said. That is the Manassas Train Station area.
He asked parents to talk with children who were downtown, including adults. Detective Tim Dury is assigned to the case.

Police had earlier confirmed a shooting, said it was not an officer-involved shooting, and asked the public to stay out of Old Town. A reunification site was set up at the Farmers Market lot, 9024 Prince William Street.
A nearby resident told Potomac Local earlier Friday she heard three shots, then two more, saw people running to their cars, and saw a woman on a stretcher. Potomac Local News has exclusive photos from the scene.
