Interstate 95 southbound remains closed Wednesday morning in Caroline County at mile marker 113 following a crash involving multiple tractor-trailers, including one that overturned.
The closure sits between Exit 118 (Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County and Exit 110 (Ladysmith). Southbound drivers are being detoured off the interstate at Thornburg onto Route 1 southbound and can re-enter I-95 at Ladysmith. A shoulder has temporarily reopened at the crash scene to help clear vehicles. Delays are reported to begin about four miles before the site.
Motorists should consider alternate routes, such as Route 1 or Route 301/Route 207, to avoid the area. The incident was first reported around 5:45 a.m. and updated at 6:25 a.m.
