Spotsylvania Teen Honored with National Young Marines Award in Washington, D.C.

“Young Marine Sgt. Clevenger represents the very best of today’s youth,” Col. William P. Davis, USMC (Ret.), national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines, said. “She combines humility with drive, leadership with compassion, and discipline with service. Faith has made her family, her unit, and the entire Young Marines organization proud.”

“As a proud member of the Young Marines, I’ve grown not only in self-discipline and leadership, but also in my ability to serve others through storytelling and design,” said Sgt. Faith Clevenger of Spotsylvania. “These experiences have shaped my passion for communication and creative service—skills I hope to carry forward into my professional journey.”

Clevenger received the national Jimmy Trimble Scholarship from the American Veterans Center during the 28th Annual Veterans Conference and American Valor Honor Gala on November 8 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes one Young Marine each year who exemplifies the service, character, and courage of James “Jimmy” Trimble III, a World War II Marine who gave his life on Iwo Jima.

A member of the LCpl. Caleb John Powers Young Marines in Fredericksburg since 2017, Clevenger is homeschooled at Seven Oaks Classical Homeschool Fellowship and plans to attend Virginia Commonwealth University in 2026 to study public affairs and forensic science. In addition to numerous Young Marines honors, she has earned over 500 hours of community service as a Disabled American Veterans Junior Volunteer.
