Photos: Black Thursday Shoppers Hit Stores

By MARY DAVIDSON

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — What should we call it: Thanksgiving Day or Black Thursday?

This year marked for many the start of the traditional Black Friday shopping craze – where retailers mark down popular items like electronics, toys, clothing, and more – to try to get shoppers through the doors and their sales numbers out of the red and back in black.

Lines of shoppers formed outside stores in North Stafford, from Kohls department store in Stafford Marketplace, to Best Buy, to Walmart. Many stores were open on Thanksgiving Day, providing a place for some to forget about spending time with family or friends and instead pull out their pocket books.

For employees, that meant spending another day away from friends and family behind cash registers on what was once a holiday where retailers closed up shop.

Did you go shopping on Thanksgiving Day? Did you take part in the early-morning Black Friday shopping craze?

If so, what did you find? And was it worth it?
