The Unity Reed High School girls soccer team has introduced more than 20 Loch Lomond Elementary School students to soccer this school year.

Unity Reed High, a school in Prince William County Schools (PWCS) has partnered with another district school in Manassas, Loch Lomond, to introduce the younger students to organized sports at the Super Scotties Soccer Club.

The club was created to promote respect, kindness, teamwork and sportsmanship in young children at Loch Lomond.

“I am incredibly proud of our players for stepping up and giving back to the community,” said Jessica Perdue, the head girls soccer coach at Unity Reed High. “School sports can be about so much more than winning; it can be about growth and learning what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.”

According to a PWCS press release, the Unity Reed girls soccer team taught the club’s participants the soccer basics, teamwork and sportsmanship.

“Doing this with my teammates makes it so much more meaningful. We’ve worked hard to build our program up, and now we’re side by side, showing these kids the same sense of teamwork we have,” team captain Beverly Borjas said.
