SHUTTLE’S FINAL FLIGHT
Space Shuttle Discovery made its final flight over Washington, D.C. about 9:50 a.m. Tuesday delighting spectators from across the area. The shuttle, on the back of a modified 747 jet, first flew by Dulles Airport and then made its way over Tysons Corner, Alexandria, Washington, and then over Maryland.
The shuttle will be retired at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly.
The shuttle is expected to be on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center later this month.

The shuttle is scheduled to fly over the Potomac River between 10 and 11 a.m. today before it makes its final landing at Dulles Airport. Some of the best viewing spots to see the shuttle this morning are said to be along the riverfront in Alexandria, the 14th Street Bridge, and the National Mall.
