North Stafford, Va, –– It was an armed robbery at a Sunoco gas station in North Stafford that sent K9 units searching a neighborhood and a nearby shopping plaza as others looked on.

The Stafford sheriff’s office on Thursday released the details of an armed robbery that happened at the gas station, at 488 Garrisonville Road (Va. 610), about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

A man walked into the gas station with a handgun in his right hand and placed a backpack on the counter. He then told the clerk to fill it with cash, and when the clerk did, the man calmly walked out of the store and went in the direction of Center Street, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

Neither of the two people who were inside of the gas station was injured, but sheriff’s deputies swarmed the area following the robbery, setting up a perimeter around the gas station and searching a nearby neighborhood for their suspect.

That search came up empty, and now authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding who is responsible for the robbery.

The man was described as black, wearing a black jacket with brown lettering, a black bandana that covered his face and black gloves. The backpack that used to transport the stolen cash was also black, said Kennedy.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540-658-4400.
