Firefighters taken to hospital after blaze

Five firefighters in Stafford County were taken to the hospital after a blaze ripped through a home early this morning.

Fire crews were called at 12:29 a.m. to 33 Clover Hill Drive, off Mountain View Road, for a report of a fire at a single family home.

Crews entered the home and found flames had already engulfed the second floor, according to Stafford County spokeswoman Cathy Riddle.

At that point, crews evacuated the house and fought the blaze from outside the home, said Riddle.

It took crews 1 hour and 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.

No one was home when flames broke out, said Riddle.

Three firefighters suffered minor burns and two others suffered heat exhaustion to due to extreme heat. All five were treated at a local hospital and later released, said Riddle.
