DUMFRIES — A suspect is in custody in connection to a fatal hit and run crash in Dumfries.
From Prince William police:
Fatal Hit and Run Investigation *ARREST – On April 19, investigators attempted to arrest the driver identified in the fatal hit & run collision that occurred in the area of Graham Park Rd. and Old Triangle Rd. in Dumfries on February 21.
Investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit received a tip in early April that ultimately led to the identity of the driver. During the investigation, investigators determined the driver, identified as the accused, was operating a 2005 Dodge Caravan when the vehicle struck and killed the victim who was walking in the above area.
The accused failed to stop at the scene to render aid to the victim. The victim later died at an area hospital as a result of his injuries. On April 19, police attempted to arrest the accused and execute a search warrant at his home in Triangle. Once the accused observed police at this residence, he attempted to flee out of a back door. Officers eventually detained the accused before he was able to get away.
Following the investigation, the driver, identified as Yohance Andrew TRIM, was arrested. The initial vehicle believed to be involved in striking the victim was later ruled out as having any part in the collision.

Fatal Hit and Run [Previously Released] – On March 5, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit were notified of the death of the pedestrian involved in a hit & run crash that occurred in the area of Graham Park Rd. and Old Triangle Rd. in Dumfries on February 21.
An autopsy conducted on March 6 confirmed that the injuries sustained by the pedestrian were from being struck by a vehicle. The striking vehicle was possibly a light colored, Ford pickup truck. A witness to the crash took a photo of the suspected vehicle involved [see attached]. The investigation continues.
