MANASSAS — Manassas Councilwoman Theresa Coates Ellis will continue her “Shadow for a Day” project.
The effort pairs working professionals with students from Osbourn High School, the city high school, with working professionals.
The second annual “Shadow for a Day” is open to students and young adults, and will highlight jobs and opportunities in different careers followed by a question and answer session.
Coates-Ellis touts the event as an opportunity to meet and connect with local professionals in the trades, arts, and crafts.
A panel of experts in their respective industries and in business will introduce their specialty. They are excited to meet their future workforce and introduce themselves to the community, said Coates-Ellis.
“Last year we launched the Shadow for a Day program with professionals that was a huge success. Students and community members were linked to jobs, summer internships and mentors for their future” she states in a press release. This year we are adding to this network of businesses, non-profits, and agencies dedicated to providing opportunities to our community.”
Food from Ashton Family Restaurant will be provided free of charge.
The event will take place Tuesday, May 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at CenterFuse, at 9071 Center Street in Downtown Manassas.
