Potomac Landfill

Dumfries, Va. — Last month, Dumfries residents and those driving along Interstate 95 near the town complained about an awful odor.

Now, Virginia officials are looking into whether the Potomac Landfill – the source of the smell – violated state law, reports InsideNoVa.com.

Landfill officials say unusually high amounts of rain in our area lead to the smells, and that they have purchased new equipment and chemicals to lessen that will help to lessen the odor.
