- 🗳️ Council Election:
Bob Love, previously appointed to the Town Council, was elected to complete the term of former Councilmember Nancy Brinton. - 🎉 Town Sesquicentennial:
Council adopted a resolution recognizing the 150th anniversary of the first elected Occoquan Town Council. - 🎨 Fall Arts & Crafts Show:
The show generated $13,000 more in net revenue than budgeted, with 11 sponsors and 90% of vendors saying they plan to return next year. - 🌐 Visit Occoquan Report:
The town’s $5,000 annual contract with Visit Occoquan continues to show strong results, with “dramatic” increases in online engagement and tourism promotion. - 🇺🇸 Veterans Day Tribute:
Porta highlighted the life of Wilton Vernon Davis, believed to be Occoquan’s only World War I veteran, who served with the 23rd Regiment of Engineers and is buried at Pohick Episcopal Church Cemetery. - 🍕 Business News:
Third Base Pizza has closed but will reopen soon as a takeout and delivery pizza shop at the old Marin Woodturning Shop.
Its former location will become a new butcher shop, expected to open by Christmas. - 🦃 Community Food Drive:
Runs through Nov. 26, coordinated by Curate, VFW Post 7916, Weiner Realty Group, and Hello Jackson, which is offering free gifts to donors. - 🎄 Upcoming Events:
- Nov. 15: Painting classes at Laura Jones Fine Art
- Nov. 15: Permanent jewelry “sip and shop” at Hello Jackson (11 a.m.–2 p.m.)
- Nov. 22: Annual Tree Lighting at Town Hall (6 p.m.) with free shuttle service from 1–9 p.m.
