Woman Shot in Woodbridge Tops Prince William Police Blotter, Plus Burglaries, Car Theft, and an Officer Assault

A 28-year-old woman was reportedly shot in Woodbridge on Sunday night while with a male acquaintance near Potomac Mills Circle. Both later went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but police say their accounts of the incident were inconsistent and no evidence of a shooting was found at the scene. Investigators do not believe the incident was random.

In Manassas, a 22-year-old man from no fixed address was arrested after stealing a running vehicle, crashing it, and then fleeing on foot. He allegedly bit an officer during a struggle before being detained. Suspected narcotics were found in the vehicle.

Two burglary incidents were also reported. In Haymarket, a homeowner caught a man trying to break in through a basement door. The suspect ran off and didn’t get inside. In Woodbridge, a 40-year-old man was arrested after reportedly breaking into a KinderCare facility twice, consuming food inside, and being caught when he returned.

Shooting Investigation – On November 11 at 8:55PM, officers responded to investigate a shooting that was reported to have occurred in the 2700 block of Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (221921) earlier that evening. The investigation revealed a 28-year-old woman was reportedly shot while with a male acquaintance in the above area. The parties went to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries where police were notified. No evidence of shooting could be located at the reported scene. Inconsistencies were noted by the parties into the events leading to the injuries. This incident does not appear to be random.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On November 11 at 4:03PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7000 block of Colin Point Dr in Haymarket (20169) to investigate an attempted burglary. The investigation revealed the homeowner was in the basement area of home when an unknown man was observed attempting to enter a rear basement door. The man ran from the area once noticed. No entry was made into the residence, and no property was reported missing. The suspect was described as a black male wearing dark-colored clothing including a hat and gloves.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On November 11 at 4:49PM, officers responded to the 9300 block of Byron St in Manassas (20111) to investigate a stolen vehicle. The investigation revealed the owner had left their vehicle unlocked and running in front of a residence in the above area. At one point, an unknown man, later identified as the accused, was walking by the home and entered the vehicle before driving off. When responding officers observed the vehicle in the area of Lomond Dr and Bull Run Rd, the accused fled at a high rate of speed before striking another vehicle. After the crash, the accused fled on foot. Officers chased the accused and caught up to him where a struggle then ensued. During the struggle, the accused bit an officer on the hand and continued to resist before being detained. Minor injuries were reported. Suspected narcotics were subsequently found inside the vehicle during a search. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as William Francisco MADRIGAL, was arrested.

Commercial Burglary – On November 10 at 1:51PM, officers responded to the KinderCare located at 12781 Harbor Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed staff had found several items out of place when opening the center on November 9. The following day, staff located a passport possibly belonging to the intruder who had entered the business through an unsecured door. Officers made contact with the owner of the passport, later identified as the accused, and determined he had entered the building on two occasions on November 9. On November 11, the accused returned to the center where staff notified police. The accused was subsequently detained without incident. No property was reported missing other than food items consumed by the accused during the unauthorized visits. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Abu Bakarr SESAY, was arrested.
