Prince William County Sheriff Announces 2025-2026 Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute Scholarship Applications

Prince William County Sheriff Glendell Hill announced that online applications are open for the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) Scholarship Program for the 2025-2026 school year.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to students attending Virginia colleges and universities who are majoring in criminal justice, excluding those pursuing a law degree or legal career. Applicants must obtain a letter of recommendation from their resident sheriff before applying.

Prince William County residents must contact the Sheriff’s Office by April 4, 2025, to schedule an appointment with Sheriff Hill for the recommendation. The deadline to submit the online application and required documents is May 1, 2025. More details and application materials are available on the VSI website.

Prince William County Sheriff, Glendell Hill, is pleased to announce that online applications are now being accepted for the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) Scholarship Program for the 2025-2026 school year.

The scholarships were established to provide an opportunity for young people across the state of Virginia to receive financial assistance in their pursuit of an education in law enforcement or criminal justice. This program is limited to students attending Virginia colleges and universities, majoring in the criminal justice field only. (Those majoring in law or pursuing a career as a lawyer are not eligible.)

The program policies, scholarship application, and checklist can be found online at the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute website: www.vasheriffsinstitute.org.

Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from their resident sheriff prior to application submission. Prince William County residents must contact the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office by April 4, 2025, to schedule an appointment with Sheriff Hill to receive the required letter of recommendation.

The deadline to submit the online application and all required documents is May 1, 2025.
