Prince William County’s State of the Parks Event Set for February 13
Prince William County Parks and Recreation will host its 2025 State of the Parks event on Tuesday, February 13, 2025, at the Chinn Park Regional Library in Woodbridge. This annual event provides an opportunity for community members to learn about the county’s parks, upcoming projects, and new initiatives.
Residents and stakeholders are invited to hear from Prince William County Parks leadership about the latest developments in recreation and outdoor spaces across the county. The event will include updates on park enhancements, future projects, and efforts to improve recreational access for residents.

Dumfries Welcomes New Workout Anytime Gym on February 13
Gary Wortham Jr., a former college football player and recruiter, is stepping into an exciting new role as the general manager of the brand-new Workout Anytime gym, opening on February 13 at 18069 Triangle Shopping Plaza (Suite C&D) in Dumfries.
Wortham, who played football at James Madison University, has dedicated much of his career to sports, mentorship, and community building. He founded a nonprofit organization to support student-athletes, coached high school football, and worked as a football recruiting specialist at the University of Maryland.
Now, he’s channeling that same passion into fitness, both personally and professionally. Wortham has lost 115 pounds in the past two years and is eager to help others on their health journeys. As he takes the helm at Workout Anytime Dumfries, he aims to create a welcoming gym environment while exploring opportunities for growth within the brand.
The new Workout Anytime Dumfries offers 24/7 access, personal training, and a range of fitness amenities tailored to individuals of all experience levels.

Prince William Water Academy Receives National Environmental Achievement Award
Prince William Water’s Water Academy has been recognized with a 2025 National Environmental Achievement Award (NEAA) from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). The award honors exceptional contributions to environmental protection and clean water initiatives.
The Water Academy, a free three-session program for adults and high school seniors in Prince William County, offers a behind-the-scenes tour of the H.L. Mooney Advanced Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF), hands-on activities, and discussions with industry experts. Participants include elected officials, homeowners’ association representatives, business owners, engineers, retirees, and teachers—some of whom earn continuing education credits through the program.
“Prince William Water is truly honored to receive the NACWA 2025 National Environmental Achievement Award for our Water Academy,” said General Manager/CEO Calvin D. Farr, Jr., P.E. “This award highlights our efforts to educate the community about our mission, engage our stakeholders in protecting water resources, and inspire Water Academy participants to serve as environmental ambassadors.”
The award was presented on Wednesday, January 29, during the NACWA 2025 Winter Conference in Rancho Mirage, California.
