In a recognition at the school board meeting, Healy was lauded for her commitment to students, families, and educators. Throughout her tenure, Healy has served alongside 33 board members and held leadership roles, including seven years as chair and one year as vice chair. Her guidance has been instrumental in navigating the board through significant growth, challenges, and transformations within the school system.
“Mrs. Healy’s wisdom and dedication have ensured that our decisions remain student-centered and focused on our future,” said school board chair Maureen Siegmund. Healy’s legacy includes the opening of one-third of the county’s schools during her tenure, as well as overseeing renovations and rebuilds across the district. She will continue to serve through the current term, which concludes in 2028, marking an unprecedented 28 years of service.
Healy’s leadership has seen the opening of schools such as Rocky Run, Rodney Thompson, and Mountain View, as well as numerous renovations, including Stafford High School and North Stafford High School. Future projects under her watch include High School 6, slated to open in 2026, two new elementary schools, and the rebuilding of Drew Middle School.
Reflecting on her service, Healy credited her daughter, Sarah, and the Rock Hill community for inspiring her to run for the school board. “If it hadn’t been for my daughter, I would not be on the school board,” she said during her remarks. Initially looking to get involved through the PTO, Healy was drawn into school board service—a role she has passionately embraced for over two decades.
Elected unopposed in 2023, Healy last faced a contested race in 2019, where she secured 67.4% of the vote. Her enduring leadership has not only shaped the educational landscape of Stafford County but has also served as an inspiration for public service in the community.
“Mrs. Healy, your service has been a gift to this community. Your tireless advocacy for high-quality education and your steady hand during times of change has made a difference in countless lives,” added Siegmund.
