
A new research lab opened in the Manassas area, the second in a week.
ITility is a veteran-owned small business providing information IT solutions, mission operation support, and technology development for government agencies and private industry.
The firm recently opened a research and development lab on Central Park Drive in Manassas, near the Tru By Hilton hotel at The Landing and Canon Branch, to support its growing Renewable Energy & Agriculture division – IREA.

A team of IREA researchers and scientists in Manassas provide data collection and analysis for various client-tailored renewable energy systems, including biosolid-to-energy conversion installations. Those IREA-designed systems take biosolids like chicken manure and convert the stored energy into usable biogas and fertilizerers that don’t harm waterways.
“Our research and development lab in Manassas is perfectly situated to grow ITility’s renewable energy efforts,” says Erik Overby, Director of IREA. “From our location, we’re able to attract the scientific expertise we need on our team while being close enough to our industry partners in government and agriculture.”
On March 29, officials gathered less than a mile from the ITility’s new site to cut a ribbon for the new Northern Virginia BioScience Center.
The $17.5 million center at Innovation Park Prince William provides new wet lab space for fledgling life-science companies. The facility is designed to be the next step up for companies graduating from the Prince William County Science Accelerator at George Mason University’s Science and Technology Campus outside Manassas, serving as an incubator for scientists at start-up life-science companies.
On March 16, Potomac Local News told you trucking firm A. Duie Pyle would establish a service center in Manassas. The freight dock at 10461 Colonel Court, just off Godwin Drive near the Utility site, will have 30 bays, and will bring 30 new jobs to Manassas.
