The City Council will take up a measure to asking it to approve the rezoning of a property on five acres of land, at the intersection of Hasting and Godwin drives, next to George C. Round Elementary School, that would clear the way for 28 new townhomes.
The governing body is also set to honor the city’s long-serving mayor, Hal Parrish II, who has been on the city council since 1993.
Parrish decided in February not to see reelection to the City Council, where he served as mayor since 2008. He will be preceded by the city’s first black, first female mayor, Michele Davis Younger.
The City Council will also honor Ian Lovejoy, who, at 30 was the youngest person ever to be elected to the council. Lovejoy, a Republican, was first elected in 2012 and lost his most recent reelection bid to Tom Osina, a Democrat.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors will meet at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15. It will consider paying a $500 bonus to all full-time county government employees who have worked during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors is set to meet at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15. Topping the meeting agenda once again is Brooke Road, the two-lane thoroughfare in the county notoriously known for flooding, which it did on December 5, trapping residents inside of their homes.
