John Gray seeking Prince William Chairman At-large seat

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — John Gray submitted paperwork with the Prince William County Republican Committee to be a candidate for Chairman of the Prince William County Board Supervisors.

Gray has lived in Lake Ridge for over 30 years and has been a CPA in the county since 1989.

Gray has previously run as a candidate for positions on the Board of Supervisors on two separate occasions. In his last bid for Chairman, At-large in 2011, Gray ran against Prince Corey Stewart. Gray ran as an Independent and lost that race.

Gray also ran for the Occoquan District seat on the Prince William County School Board in 2015, he was defeated by the incumbent Lillie Jessie.

Gray’s previous foray was in 2018 when he tossed his name into the hat to be considered as a temporary appointment as Prince William County School Board Chairman, At-large following Ryan Sawyers abrupt resignation on March 7, 2018.

Current At-Large School Board Chair Babur Lateef was temporailty appointed to the seat by fellow School Board members in April of that year, shortly after Sawyers resigned.

In his previous outings, Gray’s primary issues were taxes and teacher’s pay. If nominated as the Republican candidate to run for the Chairman’s seat this fall, his issues for this primary will immigration and controlled growth.

First and foremost, I will fight to keep [Prince William County] from becoming a sanctuary county… like Fairfax already is. We cannot allow that to happen,” Gray states in a press release.

Gray also commented on the overcrowding of schools. “We must have Smart Development and Growth in [Prince William County],” states Gray in a press release.

Gray will seek the nomination at the Republican Firehouse primary being held on May 4.
