Prince William County Parks & Recreation is making sure county residents are “water-aware.”
May has been designated National Water Safety Month by the World Waterpark Association, the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, the American Red Cross and the National Recreation & Park Association. PWC Parks & Recreation is taking action to prevent drownings and recreational water-related injuries by hosting a free swimming and basic water safety event, The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, on June 18th at Veterans Memorial Park and Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center.
“It’s so important to be familiar with basic water-safety skills, especially during summer months when people are more often in the water,” says, Jamie Orrison, Aquatics Program Manager, for Parks & Recreation. “Not only could you save your own life with this knowledge, but you might also be able to save someone else’s who hasn’t had the training.”
The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, June 18, 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and the Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center. This event is free and open to the public, for ages 3 yrs. to adult. You must register to participate in this event. Space is limited.
